Canada Day fireworks will go ahead as planned.

Fireworks in Callander this weekend and in North Bay on Canada Day will go ahead despite the fire ban say officials of the two communities.

A total fire ban for the North Bay area, which includes recreational fireworks, is expected to still be in place as of July 1 due to the current forest fire danger rating impacting Ontario says a news release from the City.

"After careful review and consideration, North Bay Fire and Emergency Services has determined at this time that the professional fireworks display set for Canada Day Celebrations will be allowed to proceed, conditional on weather.

"The fire department undertook a thorough risk assessment and has noted that the fireworks will be set off over Lake Nipissing and that precautionary measures include having crews on hand during the display."

Callander had previously announced that the show would go ahead.
