Finally! No 'Out of Control' fires in northeast

There are still 42 active forest fires across the northeast, however, but all active fires are either being held, under control or being observed

Hard work by fire crews and better weather has allowed Aviation, Forest Fire, and Emergency Services to announce that for the first time in weeks, there are no forest fires currently burning out of control in the northeast.

The fire that has sent smoke into North Bay at times recently remains 11,362 hectares in size and is being held. Local residents will continue to see the smoke drift from this fire when hot and dry weather conditions prevail.

Ground crews continue to extinguish hot spots within the fire perimeter and will continue moving to priority areas to search for additional hot spots

Although the fire perimeter remains restricted, all waterway and road restrictions have been lifted effective 6 p.m.on August 15.

North Bay Fire 072 has not grown in size and remains at 27, 285 ha and is listed as Being Held.

Smokes on the interior of the fire continue to be found and extinguished and helicopter bucketing is also supporting ground crews.
