NBFES and the North Bay Food Bank are asking the community to help 'Fill A Fire Truck' on Oct. 13.

The annual North Bay Fire and Emergency Services "Fill A Fire Truck" event returns Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer. Proceeds go to the North Bay Food Bank.

Come fill the fire truck with non-perishable food items (see list of most-needed items below), personal hygiene products, and monetary donations and join North Bay's fire crews who will be on hand with information handouts and giveaways for the kids.

This event is held annually during Fire Prevention Week and this year’s theme is “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape!!”

Due to building materials and various types of combustibles being used in our homes, house fires are becoming exponentially more dangerous and are developing at a much faster rate. Always prepare for a minimum of two ways out of your home/building from every room or area and ensure your kids/visitors are taught this as well.

Research has shown that a modern-day house fire multiplies in temperature, size and smoke production giving all occupants a smaller timeline for evacuation. It has been shown that you may have only 1-2 minutes from fire ignition to evacuate safely.

As always, ensure you have smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your homes where required that are not expired, installed properly and tested regularly.
