Federal Court rules Metis and non-status Indians qualify as 'Indians'

A 13 year legal battle came to an end today with the Federal Court ruling that Metis and non-status Indians qualify as "Indians" under the Constitution Act of 1867. That means both groups come under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
