In advance of the first Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario Leadership debate, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli launched a Northern Pledge – a three-point plan aimed at what he hopes will regain the trust of Northerners.

“Progressive Conservatives can be a champion for the North again, but only if we want to be," says Fedeli.

He says he has done extensive consultation, including reaching out to party activists from every riding in the North.

“Northern Ontario needs a champion,” said Fedeli. “We are tired of Kathleen Wynne's deficit of ideas, deficit of vision and deficit of hope. In the last election, we did nothing to seek the support of Northerners, and they responded. Progressive Conservatives can be a champion for the North again, but only if we want to be. As the former Mayor of North Bay, I have spoken extensively about the need for our party and our province to empower the North. I will continue to be that champion for the North. ”

Here's the "NORTHERN PLEDGE"

As candidate for leader, I am committing to three core principles that will help the Progressive Conservative party grow across Northern Ontario:

1)     Our party’s Northern Policies will be written with Northerners.

2)     Our party will dedicate resources across all regions of the province to support local campaigns and associations.

3)     Our party, as government, will ensure that Northern communities have more input into laws that affect their way of life. We will ensure that all legislation is considerate of the social and economic well-being of Northern Ontario.
