Fedeli announces he is seeking a 2nd term

Surrounded by family, Victor Fedeli officially announced Wednesday that he is seeking a second term in office.

The announcement was made at the Vittori Fedeli Business Centre, at Nipissing University were Fedeli launched his first landslide victory into the Mayor’s Chair.

“I think that the community is very, very pleased with the work that we've done so far, I want to see a firmer footing be set. I'm very, very happy that we have done what I'll call a corporate turn around that is 180° turn around from taxes that were heading upwards of 9% the year we were elected to taxes that are coming downwards 6.9, 3.9 and 2.9 that's a remarkable change.”

As Fedeli spoke about his successes during the past term in office he said he could walk away knowing the city is on the right path, but said he sees more work still needs to be done.

“The transferring of the base underground, the aboveground assets from the military to the city is one piece of unfinished business. That's out of our hands. The government changed hands. When the Liberals left, the Tories came in and they have a plan to expand. Thankfully, we had not completed that. I'm very thankful that we had not completed that whole transfer because we are going to hold out hope that the military will not continue the cutting back at CFB North Bay,” states Fedeli.

“I'm thrilled with the record. All of the numbers stack up to a remarkable year. But, thanks to a great council, we have turned into very, very hard-working men and women. I think you see ups and downs over the course of a council, but I think you really saw a Council come together, not approvingly, with the strategy and went and did it all. I could retire as mayor tomorrow and be very, very happy with the record that our council has.”
