Fedeli demands second Algonquin Land Claim public consultation meeting

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli has written to negotiators on the Algonquin Land Claim demanding a second public consultation meeting.



“There are unique issues in Nipissing with regards to the Land Claim that need to be addressed, and residents have told me they’re not happy with the level of consultation thus far,” said Fedeli.



“As revisions could be made as early as this month, it’s imperative the negotiators return to Nipissing so they can fully understand the concerns here.”



In a letter today to chief negotiator Brian Crane, Fedeli noted the lone consultations held in North Bay and Mattawa took place over the March Break, when many residents were away.



“At those meetings, there was only one hour devoted to hearing from the public,” Fedeli added.



“Other ridings have been granted second meetings, it’s only fair Nipissing residents get a similar opportunity,” said Fedeli.
