Kirkland Lake – Members of the Kirkland Lake OPP along with the assistance of a Northeast OPP Region Collision Reconstructionist and the South Porcupine OPP Forensic Identification Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision. The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway 66 in Eby Township west of Kirkland Lake at approximately 6:00 p.m. on the 7th of April, 2007.

A southbound tractor trailer was traveling on Highway 11 at the Highway 66 intersection when it came into collision with a Ford pick-up truck. The pick-up was eastbound crossing Highway 66. The driver and lone occupant of the Ford pick-up was transported by ambulance to the Kirkland & District Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Robert James Patriquin age 73 of Kenabeek, Ontario. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

As a result of the collision Highway 11 was open to northbound traffic only. The southbound traffic was re-routed via Highway 66 and Highway 112 for approximately 6 hours. The investigation into the cause of the collision continues.
