Once again the Alzheimer Society Sudbury Manitoulin North Bay & Districts has partnered with The Empire, North Bay’s Landmark Retirement Residence, to raise funds to help local Alzheimer’s efforts.

The Forget-Me-Not Annual Spring Fashion Show was held in the Empress Ballroom on the afternoon of Thursday April 30th.

Over 60 guests attended to see the latest fashions, supplied by Northern Reflections. A total of $710 was raised.

Julia Tignanelli handles Health Promotion, Education & Fund Development for the local Alzheimer’s Society and says the event was meant to be fun but also raise much needed funds for their work in the community.

“It’s wonderful to see these ladies smile and have a great time, but it’s also an opportunity to support our programming that assists our clients, their families and caregivers. Alzheimer’s and related dementias have personal and social consequences that we work hard to alleviate. In North Bay and area, over 1,500 people have been diagnosed.”

Empire Activities Director Leigh Dalgliesh says the day is an exciting one at the retirement community.

“Our residents are so giving. They’ve given all their lives but still have big hearts and more time and energy to help their community. Our staff, volunteers and Social Club members enjoy creating events that help make things a little better for those battling Alzheimer’s. We couldn’t do it without the generous support of Northern Reflections.”

Over twenty different outfit combinations were modelled by the residents.
