Put your family first because the New Year is for everyone.

That is the motto of the committee organizing the 12th annual event.

The event takes place this year between Thomson Park, the YMCA and Memorial Gardens and once again the committee has put together a evening full of fun.

Highlights of the night feature activities such as snowgolf, radar hockey shoot out, sliding, skating, glow in the dark frisbee, magician, sleigh rides, swimming and family volleyball to name a few.

Families First is an alcohol free family celebration starting at 4:00pm on December 31 with a fireworks finale at 8:00 pm.

Volunteers are still required and can sign up via the Parks and Rec department at City Hall.

Admission is free but families requested to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank.

The Families First Committee will be sharing their message with area families this Saturday in the Wal-Mart parking lot as they host a fundraising BBQ to help cover celebration costs for this year’s 12th Annual Families First event.

The BBQ will run between 10 am and 4 pm and if you have time to spare the committee welcomes your assistance.
