Escape to the Beach

The Escape Movement is celebrating its 4th anniversary this Friday with its fifth annual Escape Movement Beach Party; a waterfront event that tends to attract many each year.

The look and design of the event is shaping up to be a little different this year as Founder of The Escape Movement, Andrew Morrison is focusing on an overall after party for the evening rather than a full day function.

“There were a few efforts we wanted to accomplish with the Beach Party,” said Morrison, whose popular clothing line has become a recognizable local brand since being created less than half a decade ago.

“One of the efforts was showcasing the waterfront and how awesome North Bay is down there as well as bringing people together in that environment and doing something cool with what we have available to us.”

The Beach Party will feature a free performance by St. Lucian born and Halifax-based rapper, Kayo Gueverra, who has collaborated and supported many Escape Movement events, followed by popular local artist and The Escape Movement’s own, DJ Neon Nomad.

“This is just a good chance to do something different in a great environment with a great group of people being exposed to some great music,” Morrison added.

Proceeds from the event will go to The North Bay Food Bank; one of many charitable causes Morrison and his brand have been fortunate enough to give back to within the community.

“I’ve been able to have the ability to give back,” Morrison expressed. “I don’t seek to make profits off our parties, they are just a bonus. I’d much rather see that money go to a good cause.”

The Escape Movement Beach Party begins at 10 p.m. on Friday at The Boat North Bay.
