Empty school bus and vehicle collide

North Bay OPP is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a school bus and a motor vehicle that occurred on Highway #11, about 2km south of North Bay at 2:00pm. There were no children on the bus at the time and there were no injuries.

The driver of the car was travelling southbound in the shoulder lane of Hwy #11 when it began to slow down. The vehicles that were behind the car pulled into the passing lane to overtake the vehicle. The car then turned left in front of the bus, crossing both southbound lanes in an attempt to access the emergency turn around. The vehicle and school bus collided.

The driver of the car, 68-year-old Verna Pheasant of Wikwemikong has been charged with an improper left turn – multi-lane highway. P/C Kerry Ayres of the North Bay OPP detachment is investigating.
