Forest Fire situation report for Tuesday July 17th, 2007

HIGHLIGHTS:

- 0 new; 3 active fires

- 262 fires; 2846.7 hectares to date since Apr.1st

DETAILS:

There have been no new fires in the last 24 hours. Active fires include; Cochrane 20 & 22 – two lightning fires, west of Fort Albany, that are being observed and Cochrane 26 a 0.8 hectare fire that is under control.

Showers become thunderstorms across the North as the lower James Bay area remains unstable. Areas south of Toronto will see cloud with showers and thunderstorms developing along the system wave. Areas between will see a mix of sun and cloud to sunny skies. Winds remain light to moderate with temperatures at or slightly below seasonal values.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations. Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
