Dunstone again performing at a high level in North Bay

As for how fans react before a big shot: 'I like a little silence personally. It's the roar after the shot — whether it's made or missed — that the fans can express themselves.'

Matt Dunstone is enjoying a North Bay curling experience once again at the  Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling Boost National 2022

He had a great round robin, going 3-1, and has qualified for the quarter-finals with hopes of repeating still in place.

As for how fans react before a big shot: "I like a little silence personally. It's the roar after the shot — whether it's made or missed — that the fans can express themselves. That's why I play the game. After the last couple of years, it's great having the fans back in the stands cheering us on,".

At the previous Pinty's Grand Slam held in the city, he won it all defeating Brad Gushue in the final. He says he has great memories of the 2019 Pinty's.

"When I got here I took a long look around here. Obviously, this is a special place to me due to winning that Slam. It feels great to be back and I would like nothing more than to make another deep run here."

He says has lofty goals this season.

"Win the Brier and win the worlds are the ultimate goals. Obviously, if we can pick up some Slams along the way all the better but this team is built on winning championships,".

Dunstone says this is a very exciting time for curling with all the new teams.

"It's getting people talking about the sport. It's very exciting. It keeps fans and players interested and that's good,".

Dunstone, who was born in Winnipeg but now lives in B.C. has qualified for the Brier four times and won one grand slam event.
