Dryden's Anti-Poverty Tour to stop in the Bay

Ken Dryden, Chair of the Liberal Caucus of Social Development will be in North Bay on Thursday, January 24 as part of his cross Canada tour in a national call to fight poverty.

Member of Parliament Anthony Rota will host a town hall meeting with Mr. Dryden at St. Joseph’ s Motherhouse in the morning of the 24th. Interested participants, organizations and agencies will meet to share concerns and suggestions with Dryden.

“The fight against poverty is everybody’s fight,” said Rota, “and we need to engage everyone to tackle this very serious problem. This is an opportunity for everyone to meet and exchange views.”

North Bay is one of 15 stops Dryden is making and is the only stop in Northern Ontario.

While in North Bay, Dryden will also visit Canadore College to attend an event with the Canadian Pond Hockey Tournament. Additionally, the North Bay North Stars Special Hockey Team will enjoy a visit from Dryden on Thursday afternoon.

Rota will also host The Honourable Ken Dryden at a Wine and Cheese Fundraising Reception Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Best Western. Tickets are available by calling John Wilson at 223-9547 or in Temiskaming Shores Dan Cleroux at 679-5600.
