Drugs stolen from drug store.

A complaint of theft of drugs from a drug store has led to the arrest of one of the employees.

Earlier this month, members of the James Bay OPP, Cochrane Criminal Investigation Unit and Community Drug Action Team started an investigation after getting a complaint of theft of drugs from a local Cochrane drug store.   

Investigation revealed approximately 16,000 tablets of various narcotics had been stolen from the drug store over a period of time. 

Yesterday, Carolann Russell, 51 years old, an employee of the drug store was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft (46 counts);
  • Possession of property obtained by crime;
  • Trafficking in a schedule I substance and with
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. 

She is being held for a bail hearing today.
