Driver hits ditch, cops lay charges

The Ontario Provincial Police reports a driver was charged after a single-vehicle collision.

On February 1, 2024, just after 11 p.m., the North Bay OPP attended the scene and found a single vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 between Seymour and Highway 17 East in North Bay.

Upon speaking to the driver, it was determined that they had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the North Bay Detachment of the OPP for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel Hurtubise, 33, from Chapman Township was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 5, 2024.

The accused was also issued a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
