Further information can be found in the following news release issued by the North Bay and District Health Unit:
____________________________________________________________

On behalf of Dr. Catherine Whiting, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, medical officer of health, announces the lifting of the drinking water advisory placed for all residents and properties of CFB North Bay and the Jack Garland Airport. The lifting is effective immediately.

Laboratory results for bacteria were negative. The City of North Bay and the Ontario Clean Water Agency have taken appropriate steps to rectify the current situation.

Residential users of the municipal water supply in that area are advised to run each of their cold water taps for one minute. Commercial and institutional users should run all cold water taps for two minutes. To remove sediment, screens should be removed from taps, rinsed and replaced. These steps, in addition to normal use of water, will be sufficient to ensure that properly chlorinated water is available at the tap.

There have been no increased reports of gastrointestinal-like illness during the advisory from hospital emergency rooms, walk-in clinics, or TeleHealth.

Residents who have questions over the weekend may call (705) 474-1400 and ask to speak to the public health inspector on call. The Health Unit Web site at www.nbdhu.on.ca provides further information.
