Here's a reminder that it's not a great idea to drink, then sleep it off in your car.

OPP in Cochrane charged a woman with an alcohol related offence this past weekend.

On Friday afternoon police were told about a woman sleeping in a parked car in a parking lot on Highway 11.

Police say investigation showed that the driver had consumed alcohol. Kirsten Anderson, 25, of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with:

  • Care or Control While Impaired

  • Care or Control Over 80 mgs

  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance

Constable Stéphanie Bélec told BayToday that you can't drink and get into your vehicle, even the back seat, to try and sober up.

"If you have the keys or you have any means to move that vehicle, then you are in care and control of it. If they were in the back seat they would still have care and control if they have the keys with them."

Details are listed in the Criminal Code.
