Disqualified driver flees police, faces multiple charges

He ignored the officer’s direction and drove away in an erratic manner

A man known to be a disqualified driver was seen by police driving a vehicle downtown in North Bay Tuesday.

Police say on September 25, shortly before noon a man was seen driving a motor vehicle in the 200 block of Main Street West.

Officers tried to stop him however he ignored the officer’s direction and drove away in an erratic manner. The driver abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot in the downtown area. He was pursued by police and at one point he assaulted an officer who tried to stop him.

The chase ended when he entered a building and he was arrested by police.

As a result of the investigation North Bay Police arrested and charged:

Jason Hansman, 35, of North Bay with:

  • Fail to Stop for Police;
  • Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle;
  • Driving Disqualified;
  • Assaulting a Police Officer; and
  • Breach of probation.
