The Dionne home is staying in North Bay.

Council voted tonight (Tuesday) by a vote of 7-3 in favour. Applause broke out from the public gallery.

Councillors Forgette, Serran, Shogren, Maroosis, Vrebosch, Mayne  and Mayor McDonald voted in favour, while Vaillancourt, Bain and King voted against.

Councillor Mike Anthony was absent.

A committee report proposes that the City of North Bay retain ownership and jurisdiction of the Dionne Quints’ Home, all museum artifacts, contents and related items and that the City of North Bay locates the Dionne Quints’ Home at the North Bay waterfront park, on the west lawn roughly aligned with the walkway through to the parking lot, near the North Bay Museum.

"This will be an asset to the City in the long term," said Councillor Chris Mayne.
