The Friends of the Dionne Quintuplet Home Museum have announced a fundraising dinner/dance at the North Bay Davedi Club on Friday, March 17.

Lined up for the event is a host of local talent including the J. Houston Band, Mid Life Crisis (MLC), Brian Risk & The Heart of Gold Tribute Band and David Dino White.

“We will be having a family style dinner, live and silent auctions, dancing and more,” says Shirley Scalise, coordinator of the event. “And we really want to thank the Davedi Club for all of their assistance in getting this fundraiser off the ground, especially since they’ve donated the room and a good deal of help from their own volunteers. Thanks to the 4 bands as well who are donating their time and talents to this very worthwhile cause,” added Scalise.

“The Friends of the Dionne Quintuplet Home Museum are a volunteer group, working to keep the Dionne Quintuplet homestead and related artifacts intact and in the City of North Bay”, says Jeff Fournier, Chair of the group. “Our aim is to support the City in re-locating the homestead within the City of North Bay, preferably on the property adjacent to the Discovery North Bay Museum, or at least somewhere very near it. We are committing our ongoing support to the city in assisting them to operate and maintain the Quints’ home through community fundraising, acquisition of government grants, and the utilization of community volunteers. This fundraiser will aid us in our endeavour.”

Tickets for the dinner and entertainment/dance which will run from 6:30 pm until midnight are selling for $35 each and may only be purchased in advance. They are available at  Shampoo Alley in West Ferris, Pinehill Restaurant and Coffee Shop, Deegan’s Shoes and Antiques or LaSalle Uniform Shop in the downtown core, or at the Davedi Club on Airport Road.

Tickets for the entertainment/dance only, which will gain you entry from 8pm until midnight, are available for $15 at the above locations or at the door on the night of the event.

“This is a great opportunity to support the efforts of the Friends of the Dionne Home Museum and help keep the Dionne Quints home in our community,” says Councillor Chris Mayne, who is part of a special committee consisting of Councillors George Maroosis and Derek Shogren, who are tasked with finding a viable solution to keep the Dionne Homestead intact with all of its artifacts in North Bay.

The ‘Friends’ have been fundraising since February 6 of this year via their website at www.quintsmuseum.com, where members of the public can link to a ‘Go-Fund-Me’ account where they may donate funds to help keep the home in North Bay to aid in its future operation and maintenance.

Those wishing to donate in person can do so at the TD Canada Trust Branch, 240 Main St. East, North Bay (Branch 3120; Account #5238623).

Donations will also be accepted at the Davedi fundraiser.
