OPP say a Mattaw woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger who presented himself as deaf and mute.
On Friday, August 16, at 12:20 p.m., a Mattawa resident answered a knock at her door.
"A person held a card to the glass which stated 'I am deaf and mute. I am selling flashlights to raise money for my family,' said Acting Sergeant Shona Camirand.
"When the resident opened the door she was sexually assaulted."
The woman called 911 and police found the man a short time later.
Claude Vaillancourt 62, of Montreal, is charged with sexual assault.
Vaillancourt was released with conditions and is scheduled to attend court in North Bay on September 9.
