OPP are warning people to stay off ice. Conditions are very dangerous and have already resulted in one man's death.
OPP NEWS RELEASE
(North East Region, ON) Members from the OPP have responded to several occurrences relating to people either going through, or are trapped out on the ice. This has resulted in the senseless death of one man.
The relatively mild winter, coupled with a warm spring has created dangerous conditions on area lakes and rivers. The ice is thin, of poor quality and deteriorating quickly.
North East Region Inspector Mark Andrews, currently situated in North Bay, is strongly urging that members of the public refrain from going out onto the ice.
Ignoring these ice conditions places you and potential rescuers at risk!
