Danby collapsed while on canoe trip, taken to NBGH

Burks Falls - On Sunday, September 23, 2007 Ken Danby, award winning Canadian artist, collapsed while on a canoe trip, with his wife Gillian Danby and close friends, on North Tea Lake in Algonquin Park.

The canoe party immediately summoned for help and attempted to assist Mr. Danby.

An air ambulance arrived and lowered two paramedics to the remote location.

Unfortunately, Mr. Danby passed away.

With the assistance of rescue teams from Canadian Forces Base - Trenton, Mr. Danby was transported to North
Bay General Hospital.

Ken Danby, famous for his depictions of Canadian life, is a member of the Order of Ontario and the Order of Canada.

A medical examination has been ordered by the coroner.

No foul play is suspected in Mr. Danby's passing.
