D-Day Anniversary Marked

On June 6, 1944 Allied forces would storm the beaches of Normandy, France, during Operation Overlord.

Canadian troops flanked by American and British forces took Juno Beach, and, by the end of the day, the cost to Canadian ranks would be 340 deaths, 574 wounded, and 47 taken as prisoners.

Veterans, Royal Canadian Legion members and the community marked the 60th Anniversary of D-Day today at Memorial Park.
