Under the leadership of Regional Chairperson, Lynn Bonany, the seven CWL Parish Councils in North Bay, Callander and Sturgeon Falls have been working together to plan the Sault Ste. Marie Diocesan convention being held at the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park from April 25 to 27, 2008.

This is a special year for the local councils as the Diocesan President, Vivianne Frankish, is from North Bay. Vivianne has served on the Diocesan Council for 11 years and was elected as Diocesan President in April 2007. “The work of the League has been an important part of my life for over 40 years, and it is an honour and privilege to serve as Diocesan President and to welcome over 200 women to our city. We are also pleased to have as our special guest, the Provincial President-elect, Shari Guinta.”

The highlight of the Convention will be the opening Mass at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Friday April 25, at 7 pm, celebrated by Bishop Jean-Louis Plouffe with the presence of many priests from across the Diocese of Sault Ste Marie. This will be followed by a reception in the parish hall, hosted by the CWL parish council of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption.

During their time together, delegates and guests will participate in a workshop on Discernment and a seminar facilitated by Provincial President-elect, Shari Guinta on “Mary in a Martha World.”

“The Catholic Women’s League is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God.”
