For the North Bay Humane Society, Cupcake Week is the sweetest time of the year. The locally-run fundraiser raises funds to support sick, injured and unwell companion animals cared for by the shelter. This year, the Humane Society hopes to raise $20,000 through cupcake sales to expand the organization’s Pet Clinic and complete the construction of its new Adoption Centre.

“Animal shelters like ours are over capacity across the country and requests for help have only grown steadily,” says Liam Cullin, Executive Director of the North Bay Humane Society. “Each year, the North Bay Humane Society takes in more than 1,500 lost, injured and surrendered pets and fundraisers like Cupcake Week help us fulfill our mission to find every one of them a loving forever home.”

Cupcake Week officially launches on Saturday, Feb. 25, with Twiggs Coffee Roasters’ McKeown and Fraser locations and continues throughout the week with vendor sales at Orchards Fresh Food Market, Chez Jean-Marc Bakery and Good Glaze Doughnuts. Online orders are currently being accepted at the Humane Society website with delivery and curbside pickup options available throughout Cupcake Week. A full schedule of events can be found here

Returning this year is the Sweet Treat Auction, an event that sees home-baking enthusiasts donating their favourite homemade treats for a good cause. The Sweet Treat Auction launches Wednesday, Feb. 22, and ends Thursday, March 2, with 106.3 Moose FM radio personality Mike Monaghan set to auction off a cake live on the radio.
