As the world seems to move faster and faster many people choose to search for activities to slow down the pace and de-stress from the foibles of life.

Leslie Dion, Owner of Two Girls and a Scrapbook Shoppe, says a great way to de-stress is to get involved with scrapbooking, or ‘scrapping’ as Dion and her friends call it.

“St. Peter’s Apostle (Airport Rd.) was kind enough to donate their church to host our third annual Crop for Cancer.” Dion said.

On Saturday from 10am to 10pm women, children and men were invited to the church to scrap and raise money for breast cancer research.

“We have raise about $1,500 so far and we expect around $2,000 or more by the end of the day,” Dion said.

The purpose of ‘scrapping’ is multi-layered.

“Scrapping is great for the family. It’s a great way to creatively engage children,” Andrea Boyce McIntyre, one of Dion’s right hand lady, said.

She continued, “It ‘s better than keeping all your pictures in a shoebox… through scrapping kids and other family members get a glimpse of the past. Scrapping gets them interested and asking question about who they are and where they came from.”

“This event is great because it brings families together in a fun way and at the same time raises money for a family member or a friend who might be a victim of breast cancer,” Melanie Starcevick, Dion’s other right hand lady said.
