ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS – Breaking and entering, theft from and theft of vehicles are some of the ongoing crimes which directly impact victims and place a strain on valuable police resources. These types of crime are not new, and are very often preventable through community engagement; empowering communities to play an active role in crime reduction initiatives.

This year during crime prevention week, the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police will be talking to members of the community and in the schools about how to help prevent crime.

Staff Sergeant Whaley will be reading to kindergarten students on Nov 5th at some of the local schools. As well, there will be a seniors presentation in Sundridge on Nov 5th educating people on frauds and abuse.

On Nov 7th students at land of lakes will participate in a cyberbullying presentation.

Everyone needs to work together to make our communities safer. More information on crime prevention may be found on-line at: www.opp.ca.
