Widdifield Wildcats business students won the Nipissing Business Challenge at Nipissing University on Wednesday. The competition included Chippewa, Scollard and a close second placed West Ferris.

The challenge required students to develop a marketing strategy for the new Lady Lakers hockey team that addressed issues such as promotion, price and location.

Although all teams performed well, it was Widdifield's creativity and delivery that won the challenge.

Among the winning team of three was Heather Little, Cheyenne Robinson and Hannah Summers. The three students are all in the Business Leadership program at Widdifield and major in visual arts within the Arts and Culture High Skills Major.

"The combination of their creative art background and business skills really allowed the team to be set apart from the competition." said Widdifield Business Teacher Tyler Kidd.

The Nipissing Business Challenge has grown over the past four years and continues to be more engaging for all participants.

The "live" cases always reflect current business challenges faced by Nipissing which make the process even more interesting.

To add to the excitement around the event, Nipissing included some of its school of business faculty, marketing team and directors to judge the process. The best part of the "live" event is that students will now get to see some of their ideas used by the Nipissing Lakers marketing team in the next year.
