COVID puts the kibosh on kid's Firehall Halloween event

'Our annual Halloween Night for Kids is a popular event and has typically attracted far greater numbers than what is currently permitted'

Bad news for the area's ghosts and goblins...the popular Halloween Night for Kids at the fire department has been cancelled for the second straight year over safety concerns and limits that remain in place for outdoor gatherings.

“We continue to put the health and safety of residents first,” said Fire Chief Jason Whiteley. “Ontario remains in Step 3 of the reopening plan, which limits non-seated organized outdoor gatherings at 100 people with physical distancing. Our annual Halloween Night for Kids is a popular event and has typically attracted far greater numbers than what is currently permitted.”

The event has been ongoing for 20 years.

No decision yet on the annual Santa Claus parade which was also cancelled last year.
