City council will see a staff report this evening that recommends the phased replacement of the King’s Landing Wharf with a naturalized spit and expansion of the pier on the south side of the marina.

It's the preferred alternative which consists of a naturalized wave break on the north side of the marina and a new multi-use pier for the existing commercial enterprises along the south side of the marina at the North Bay Waterfront.

The report states the wharf, "provides docking facilities for the Chief Commanda II, access to existing boathouses, access for pedestrians from shore for sightseeing, fishing opportunities and forms a breakwater for the City’s 246 slip marina. The wharf, which is located on the north side of the marina, is nearing the end of its useful life and requires extensive rehabilitation or replacement to maintain its current function.

The meeting takes place at 5:30 this evening at City Hall.

BayToday is covering the meeting and will have full details.
