There were gowns, tuxedos, sundresses, suits, a few tiaras and even a limo waiting at the curb at Centennial Public School on this historic occasion.

Friday June 19th, 2009 marked the date of the last Gr. 8 graduating class of what is now Centennial Public School and will be the Alliance French Immersion Center this fall. The staff went out of their way to make this a very memorable day for the students with a beautiful picture slide show and great words of wisdom to take them into the future with success.

The graduation ceremony took on an air of sadness, with more than a few people shedding some tears when nearing completion, knowing that this was the end of an era. Centennial has been educating students since 1967 when it first opened its doors as a Gr. 7 & 8 school.

The Centennial staff and students have fantastic school spirit in light of all that they have been through in the last 2 school years. First with the accommodations and then with the announcement of relocation for most of the staff and all of the existing students. They are called "Cougars" for a reason!

On June 25th there will be a final assembly at Centennial with former teachers and principals in attendance to reminisce, shed a few tears and mark the new era. Centennial may be no more come the fall, but for now, hear the Cougars roar!
