TORONTO — Dr. Jim Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Toronto East, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Sean Trudeau.

Mr. Trudeau, 20, died on April 14, 2006, from injuries received while in custody. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies while in custody.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Trudeau’s death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at the prevention of deaths in similar circumstances.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the Gore Bay courthouse,

27 Phipps Street, Manitoulin Island. Dr. Peter Clark, Regional Supervising Coroner for Northeast Ontario, will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Tom Fitzgerald will be counsel to the coroner.
