Cops foil B&E

On Oct. 4 the Almaguin Highlands OPP was advised of a Break and Enter in progress on the Machar Strong Boundary Rd. As a result two males were arrested and charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.

Subsequently police have executed three search warrants on properties occupied by the accused. As a result of these search warrants police have recovered stolen property including, propane appliances and fixtures, a stolen vehicle, a number of firearms, chainsaws, generators, ATVîS, a motorized snow machine and countless other household items including personal clothing and linens.
CHARGED ARE:

Peter VANDERHEIDE, 56, of Latour Crest, Callander. He has been charged with several counts of break enter and theft as well as possession of stolen property.

Police released him from custody with conditions.

Nelson BYERS, 27, of Alsace Road, Nipissing Twp. He has also been charged with several counts of break enter and theft as well as possession of stolen property.

Byers is being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing Oct. 13 in Parry Sound court.

Virginia BYERS, 67, also of Alace Rd Nipissing Twp., was arrested Oct. 6 and charged with possession of stolen property.

Police later released her on conditions.

The investigation is on going and police ask that anyone having information regarding any break and enters or thefts of property please report it to their local OPP detachment or police service.
