The Province, on its website, says there has been a positive confirmation of someone contracting the coronavirus in the North Bay Parry Sound district.

It doesn't give the exact location.

The website says it is a woman in her 60s that travelled to Egypt. She is presently self-isolating.

Upon returning home she called the Health Unit, who referred her to the North Bay Regional Health Centre’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre, where she was assessed and tested. The woman was not admitted to hospital, she was sent home to continue self-isolation and the Health Unit is monitoring her

The Assessment Centre took all necessary precautions including infection control, assessment and testing processes.

There are now 837 confirmed cases in Ontario.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, on its website, says 180 tests conducted in our district but is not updated to include the infected woman.

Earlier this week the OPP confirmed its first uniformed member had tested presumptive positive for COVID-19.

The officer serves the Nipissing West Detachment area.

That led the local Health Unit to start investigating the person's close contacts that do live in our district. "The close contacts have been directed to self-isolate for 14 days and the Health Unit is awaiting test results," said a news release.
