Community open houses will be held in North Bay and East Ferris on June 22 regarding the Trout Lake Watershed Study and Management Plan.

The first public meeting will take place at the East Ferris Community Centre and Arena at 1267 Village Road in Astorville from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The second public meeting will take place in the Council Chambers at North Bay City Hall from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both public meetings will include a presentation, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively, followed by questions and answers.
The purpose of the meetings is to present the latest data and findings and to review the recommendations presented in the reports.
All residents of North Bay and East Ferris are invited to attend. Comments can also be submitted online.
Trout Lake is North Bay’s source of municipal drinking water as well as the source of water for many shoreline residents in North Bay and East Ferris.
The intent of the Watershed Study and Management Plan is to ensure policies and provisions protect the quality of water and visual and aesthetic characteristics of the watershed and to preserve opportunities for recreational, social and environmental experiences on its waterways.
The Watershed Study and Management Plan is being conducted jointly by the City of North Bay, North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) and the Municipality of East Ferris to update and establish policies and provisions that will help to protect and preserve Trout Lake, Four Mile Lake and inflowing streams.
