'Columbo' actor Peter Falk dies

Acclaimed four-time Emmy-winning actor best known for his iconic role as the ruffled police lieutenant in the TV drama “Columbo” Peter Falk, has died.
Acclaimed four-time Emmy-winning actor best known for his iconic role as the ruffled police lieutenant in the TV drama “Columbo” Peter Falk, has died.

Falk’s family members informed KTLA news in Los Angeles that 83-year-old actor died at his home in Beverly Hills Thursday night.

Falk leaves behind his wife, Shera and two daughters from a previous marriage.

Falk’s daughter Catherine Falk reported that the actor had been suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease, according to his daughter.

Falk, who was nominated for best supporting actor Academy Awards for his roles in Murder Inc. and Pocketful of Miracles, won four Emmys for his role as "Columbo".
