Collision claims one life

North Bay OPP is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 north of Hwy 654 exit which occurred on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007.

Police and Ambulance were dispatched at approximately 11:35 p.m. last night (Sunday, September 23rd, 2007) to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11, north of Hwy 654 exit, Callander, Ontario. The vehicle was northbound when it left the road, entered the ditch, spun around and came to rest against the rocks facing south. The driver was ejected from the car and later pronounced dead at the North Bay General Hospital. The driver was identified as 21 year old Joseph Daniel Loranger of Haileybury, Ontario.

OPP North East Region Technical Traffic Investigators and the Forensic Identification Unit are assisting investigators with the investigation which is still ongoing.
