The City of North Bay has learned that residents are being approached by door-to-door sales people claiming that they have been tasked to check addresses or houses in a certain postal code for hard water.

These individuals are asking to enter residents’ homes to inspect the water meter and inside water shut off tap.

The City of North Bay would like to clarify that these individuals have no affiliation with the City.

“The City of North Bay has no contractors working for them tasked to check residential water,” stated Mayor Al McDonald on his Facebook page.

City officials state that City of North Bay representatives visiting a home would carry City of North Bay identification and would be driving a City of North Bay vehicle.

Residents are advised to use caution when approached by unsolicited private contractors or representatives requesting entry or personal information, and should request to see official identification.
