City shuts down Ramada Inn due to 'electrical' issues

'Electrical service has been terminated by local provider: no power to operate required fire alarm system or minimum lighting'

North Bay's Ramada Inn Pinewood Park has been forced to close for almost two weeks for "electrical issues," according to the City.

It's expected to open again Thursday, December 1.

A City of North Bay Building Department document is taped to the front door dated Nov. 17.

The "Order to Remedy Unsafe Building" signed by Chief Building Official Carly Price says "Electrical service has been terminated by local provider: no power to operate required fire alarm system of minimum lighting."

In other words, North Bay Hydro cut power to the hotel for reasons that remain unclear.

The order is addressed to Gupta Jatinder at 201 Pinewood Park Drive, the address of the hotel, and demands immediate compliance.

That apparently didn't happen as another order was issued the next day to "prohibit the use and occupancy of an unsafe building" because the first order "has not been complied with within the period of issue" under the building code.

A call by BayToday Friday to Ramada's head office seeking further details was not returned.
