The North Bay Police would like to caution the general public regarding a recent Fraud complaint that our Service we has received.

The complaint arises out of a call being received by a resident of North Bay in which the caller identifies themselves as Corporate Security for a financial institution. They then request that a large sum of money be withdrawn from the victim's account and then be delivered to the security personnel at a scheduled time and place. This is to assist with an internal investigation of an employee. The victim then withdraws the money and turns it over to the alleged security personnel who claim they will re-deposit the money into the victims account. However the money is never recovered and our Service cautions the public that financial institutions do not follow this practise and that if anyone receives such a call they are requested to call our investigator Det. Cst. Denis Levasseur at 497-5555.
