On Saturday the 06th of January 2007 at approximately 4:20 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a deceased female on the side of Highway #11 north of Earlton. Investigation has confirmed the identity of the victim to be Marie CLOUTIER, 26 years of Earlton.

An Ontario Provincial Police investigation has revealed the death is as a result of a traffic incident. The deceased was killed after voluntarily exiting a moving vehicle. Her body was subsequently moved from the point of contact into the ditch area off of Highway #11 prior to police arrival.

Franklin Keith KIRKHAM, the driver of the involved vehicle, is charged with Impaired Driving Causing Death, Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Impaired Driving and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol. A bail hearing will be held on Monday the 08th of January 2007 at the Haileybury Court of Justice.

Investigation has confirmed the identity of the victim to be Marie CLOUTIER, 26 of Earlton. The victim had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and foul play is suspected. Traffic has been detoured around the immediate area.

An investigation is being conducted by members of the OPP Temiskaming Shores Detachment, and North East Region Criminal Operations, under the direction of Detective Inspector Ken LEPPERT of the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch.
