Chamber warns businesses of fraudulent phone campaign

The North Bay a District Chamber of Commerce is warning members today of a fraudulent phone campaign being conducted in the area.

The Chamber advises that a company stating they are from the Ontario Business Directory and/or Newcorp America is calling businesses in the region and advising that they are updating business information, at the same time they do not inform the business that the update will cost $399.00.

The Chamber is asking their members not to give out any information over the phone, and instead ask them to fax or email the information so that the business can determine if the offer is legitimate.

The chamber also asks that any businesses that have received such a call contact PhoneBusters at 1-888-495-8501.
