Chamber 'Director of the Year' named

The Betty Alcorn Memorial Award to the North Bay and District Director of the Year has gone to Charles Elliott, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones.

The award has been presented since 1977, for director of the year and is voted on by the board for the director “having best exemplified dedication and diligence during the current year and has laboured untiringly for the good and welfare of the Chamber and community."

Elliott was presented with the award during Business Week 2017 by Board chair Chair Brad Gavan.

“Charles has been an integral part of the Chamber board for over 20 years," said Gavan. "He is the current vice-chair and is not one to seek accolades, but you can certainly find him in the trenches getting things done at any event or task he’s involved in.  His dedication and hard work to ensuring the community and business community thrive is unwavering.”

Elliott has a long career in the financial industry with over 32 years at TD Canada Trust.

He has been involved with the Chamber since 1995, as chair of the Membership and Economic Development committees, then on the board, as well as the Executive and currently serves as 1st Vice Chair.

He is also involved in a number of other community projects, such as coaching kids sports and Summer in the Park.   

Charles is married to Maria and is the proud father of Spencer, Brad, Taylor and step-son Brady.
