Cementation has recently been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in an annual competition conducted by Mediacorp Canada, a company that specializes in human resource tracking. It was the first year that Cementation was invited to participate.

Mediacorp reviewed close to 60,000 employers across Canada for the 2007 list, using seven different criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere & social; health, financial & family benefits; vacation & time off; employee communications; performance management; and training & skills development. Cementation was initially short-listed and later named to the Top 100 Employers in Canada list, a huge acknowledgment in an open-ended competition.

“As an employer of choice, we have the ability to attract the best people. We certainly feel like we have the best people within the industry in our group and it looks like Mediacorp feels the same way,” Cementation Director and President Roy Slack said.

Cementation is a mine contracting and engineering company based in North Bay, Ontario and carrying out work throughout North America. From its inception in 1998, it has been Cementation’s goal to be the mining contractor of choice for both clients and employees. Today the group is one of the premier mine contractors in the country, and was recently recognized as North Bay’s business of the year for 2006.

Cementation has a strong corporate culture based on people and safety, and the company has realized a number of significant safety achievements over the past year. This no doubt contributed to their placement on the Top 100 Employers list. The Inco North Mine team reached 1,000 days with no lost time injuries and the Nickel Rim South project passed the two year mark. These are just two examples of how Cementation has been securing their position as a true industry leader.

“Congratulations to everyone in our company, we should all be proud of this national, high-profile recognition,” Slack said.

An article on the Top 100 Employers will be featured in the October 13 issue of MacLean’s magazine.
