A celebration of the life of local guitarist Kenny Sim is being held this Saturday afternoon between 1 - 4 p.m.at the Clarion Pinewood Park Resort.

Sim died January 1st at age 66.

He started playing with Bob Ahern and Art Cardinal in 1968 in the band Bob K Art at the old Continental Hotel. Both Sim and Cardinal were in the air force at the time.

That band became the Descendant's of Tyme in 1971 and for 20 years Ken Sim was the guitarist along with Billy Vrebosch on vocals, Ahern on drums, and Angie Nunner on bass---later replaced by Dave Gillespie.

Sim then played with the band Checkerboard, and in a duo called Sweet Nothing with Chantal Thorn.

He and his girlfriend Terrie Denis recently enjoyed playing together at parties.

Organizers suggest you bring your guitar and a Kenny Sim story Saturday.
