CCTV footage identifies robbery suspect, cops make arrest

On January 12 officers were called to a robbery at a Fisher Street convenience store.  Officers arrived on the scene within one minute of the call, however, the accused had fled on foot

Police have arrested a suspect in the robbery at the Circle K convenience store on Fisher St. this month.

On the morning of January 12, officers arrived on the scene within a minute of the call, however, the robber had fled on foot. 

Police say he entered the convenience store and told the clerk that he had weapons, and not to approach him.  He then went behind the counter and stole cigarettes from the shelf and placed them in a bag.  He then fled the store on foot toward the downtown. 

Officers viewed the CCTV footage and identified the suspect.  During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused had also been involved in numerous thefts at other local businesses in North Bay. The accused was located and arrested on January 22.

The accused was also charged with several other offences concerning other matters.

Nathan Hewitt, 37, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Seven counts of theft under $5,000
  • Five counts of use disguise with intent
  • Eight counts of fail to comply with probation
  • Three counts of fail to comply with a release order

Hewitt was held in custody for a bail hearing.
