Cassells closed for construction

Starting today, one of the city's busiest streets will see construction that will extend until early December

You might need to consider alternative travel plans if it includes Cassells St.

Starting today, one of the city's busiest streets will see construction that will extend until early December.

During this period sewers, watermain, road base, curbs, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and other ancillary work will be completed that will require a detour to be in place from Chippewa Street to King Street.

During this period local traffic will be permitted to access their property including residential homes, businesses, and local churches.

Meanwhile, rehabilitation of Lakeshore Drive from Judge Ave. to Gertrude St. started this morning.

The completion date is Friday, July 26, weather permitting.

The work, which is being done as part of the 2019 Resurfacing Program, consists of milling and paving and will require the roadway to be reduced to two lanes of traffic.

Traffic delays and queuing of vehicles is to be expected especially during the morning and evening rush hours.

The City asks that the public drive with care through the construction area and use alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.
